After the success of his previous movies such as Wanted, Ready, and Dabangg, Salman Khan is again a superstar of Indian cinema, capable of attracting huge crowds for his movies. So, when a movie of the name of Bodyguard comes, you would expect such a movie to have all the formula in place, such as lots of action, some good music, and some amount of romance and humour thrown in. To add to this, some of his recent movies have either been made by directors from South India, or is a remake of a South Indian film. The same situation is there in Bodyguard, where the movie is the third remake of a Malayam movie made by the same director, Siddique.
So, what is the judgment for the movie ? Well, the music is nothing to talk about, although the influence of South Indian cinema seems to be clearly apparent; even a Punjabi bases song sung by Mika did not really cause any excitement in the hall (as opposed to the whistling in the hall when Salman Khan made his entry). Even critics of the movie do not call the movie as anything to write about, although there is a lot of praise for the action done by Salman Khan (who is the total focus of attention in the movie).
Music CD of movie Bodyguard:
What about the movie ? Well, if you read on, then you will get to know the story of the movie after the first para, so be sure that you don't want to spoil your curiosity for the movie. In the hall, I found that 30 minutes into the movie, everybody became quiet, not because of any great suspense - it seemed that people felt that the movie started dragging on, and I started yawning (one of my best indicators that the movie started getting boring).
The movie has 3 very well directed action scenes (if you want some of the action scenes in Wanted, where the action suddenly seems to either become in slow motion or fast movement, then you know what to expect; in one scene, you can suddenly see even water droplets flying in the air). However, there are huge gaps in the movie where there are no action scenes, and since there are no easy apparently romantic scenes between Salman and Kareena, and the humour is not rib-ticking, it gets boring.
So, you have a big local man called Sartaj Singh (implied that he is a powerful man, but not whether he is the local bahubali or a respected man); he is also the local person to whom people in distress go to. So, a lady goes to Sartaj Singh and wants his help in saving her daughter and other local girls who are being sent to Thailand to be sold in the flesh trade. And when Sartaj Singh goes to a firm for help, they in turn direct the work to agent Lovely Singh (Salman Singh). Lovely is also very faithful to Sartaj since Sartaj had saved Salman's wife when Salman's parents suffered a tragic accident.
Next, Sartaj Singh wants Lovely to be the bodyguard for his daughter Divya (Kareena) who has to go to college, but is in danger because of the rivals of Sartaj. So, Salman goes off to college along with Divya (along with another friend, and 2 more people to help in their setting up of the house near the college). Divya cannot stand the constant presence of a bodyguard and seeks to change stuff such as the constant uniform that Lovely wears, and his being present everywhere. Towards this end, she seeks to entice him by calling him from her cell (the number of which does not get reported), and over a period of time, Lovely, even without meeting the girl, starts falling in love with her (something surprising).
Then the villains attack, which Lovely fends off, after which Divya falls in love with him. This can become unpleasant, since Salman treats her like his employer, and the daughter of a person whom he really respects; and this becomes crazy in the end when Divya is not able to let Lovely go, when the villains attack, and Divya's father is told that Lovely and Divya are planning to run away. However, in the end, Lovely saves Divya from villains, Divya saves Lovely from her father, and Salman goes away. And then, in the last 10 minutes, 8 years in the future, there is a twist.

Wanted (released in 2009) - A typical Masala movie starring Salman Khan
Wanted is one of the biggest hit movies of the year 2009, and was a typical masala movie. The movie went down the total police vs. big don route, with action, a love story, music, everything that goes to make a huge movie. And the movie did well in the intended area, with the single movie screens (typical of smaller towns) doing much better than the performance of the movie in multiplexes. The movie is a remake of a Tamil movie, Pokkiri, and is directed by the same director who did the Tamil movie, the famous dancer Prabhu Deva.
The movie starred primarily Salman Khan, since the other actors were lesser known or not the current hot shot favorites; so the movie starred as others, Ayesha Takia, Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar, Govind Namdeo, Vinod Khanna and Aseem Merchant.

The movie deals with the Police Department's attempts to catch an international Don Ghani Bhai who lives outside India, and runs his business in India through his local man, Golden. They are in conflict with another local gangster Datta Pawle. Golden wants to beef up his local support, and hires a local freestyle gunman, Radhe (played by Salman Khan). Radhe is a typical freestyle person, brash and confident, and wants his money from whoever he is working for. Then there is the local crooked cop, Inspector Talpade (Mahesh Manjrekar), who is connected to Golden and then to Ghani Bhai, and who takes a liking to Jhanvi (played by Ayesha Takia, who lives with her mother and younger brother). Once, after Radhe saves Jhanvi from the Inspector, she starts liking him, but does not know what he does for a living. She slowly gets to know, and then when she sees an attack on him, and his brutal fight back where he dispatches the men after him, she sees how we easily kills other people. Vinod Khanna plays the role of a gym owner, who is the father to a friend of Radhe's.
Golden gets killed, and then Ghani Bhai has to come back to Bombay to take over the operations, and is caught soon after. His men kidnap the Police Commissioner's daughter and make porn CD's of her to force the freedom of Ghani Bhai, but she reveals that there is a police man in the gang. Ghani Bhai attempts to find out, and comes to Vinod Khanna, since it is his son who is the police man (and learns that the policeman killed Golden so as to get him back to India). And when he kills Vinod Khanna, he gets to know that Radhe is the actual police man. A final battle, and you know who will be the winner.

Baghban (2003) - Loving your parents (starring Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini)
Baghban released in the year 2003 and proved to be super hit. Audiences across the country loved the fact that Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini got to play their age and yet be the lead protagonists unlike other films where older characters are considered to be part of the supporting cast. The mature and mellow love story so effectively portrayed by the duo touched a chord with millions of viewers; while the topicality of the subject proved to be a crowd puller. After a long time, the production house of the illustrious B.R.Chopra delivered a good movie under the able guidance of Ravi Chopra.
Baghban tells the story of Raj Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), his wife Pooja (Hema Malinig) and their four sons, Ajay (Aman Verma), Sanjay (Samir Soni), Rohit (Saahil Chadda), and Karan (Nasir Khan). Raj works for ICICI and he and his wife have provided their sons with a comfortable and happy life. The sons are now well settled in their respective careers and are married themselves with kids. Rimi Sen plays the eldest grand child, Payal. After his retirement the couple plan on spending the rest of their lives in house of each son. However they are in for a rude shock when their sons refuse to take on the responsibilities of their old parents.
Raj and Pooja’s children decide to split up the couple. They also decide that each brother will host one parent for six months and so on. Deeply saddened by the shocking attitude of their children the old couple who have not spent even a day apart from each other are force to face separation at an old age. The duo tries to adjust to this drastic change of life situations but find it impossible to live apart. Soon they bump into Alok (Salman Khan) an orphan boy whom Raj had looked after. He takes them home and gives them the love and care that their own sons had not. Raj decides to document and capture his life experience in a book titled ‘Baghban’. He publishes this book which becomes a runaway success. As soon as the sons and their wives come to know that Raj has earned a lot of money they flock back to him. However Raj and Pooja decide not to forgive their children and live on their own, thus sending out a strong message of hope and faith to all those elderly people who are scared to live on their own.
Amitabh Bachchan captures the soul of Raj beautifully. His portrayal is poignant and heart touching. Hema Malini still looks ravishing. Salman Khan’s cameo adds a wonderful spark. Aadesh Srivastav’s music is foot tapping and pleasant. Ravi Chopra does a marvellous job bringing to the fore, the plight of the elderly population.

Baabul (2006) - Amitabh Bachchan pushes for widow remarriage in this movie
Baabul released in the year 2006 and talks about the highly sensitive issue of widow remarriage. We are living in the twenty first century but in India, widows still lead a very hard life. The rural-urban divide in terms of the position of widow within mainstream society is only a difference in degree. The question of a widow remarrying and starting life afresh is considered to be blasphemous by many. Babul tackles this very controversial subject by focussing on all the obstacles
Talented artist Malvika Talwar ( Rani Mukherjee) meets handsome rich guy Avinash on a golf course. Following a short misunderstanding, the two fall in love with each other. They decide to get married. Avinash is completely doted upon by his parents, Balraj (Amitabh Bachchan) and Shobhna ( Hema Malini). Avinash’s parents willing acceps Malvika. Her parents too have no problem with the match. She has also the blessings of her best friend Rajat Verma (John Abraham) who secretly lover her but has never had the guts to confess his feelings.
Malvika and Avinash marry and soon become proud parents of baby boy. Things are going smoothly and Malvika is blissfully happy with her husband, son and her in-laws, who treat her like their own child. However life goes from bed of roses to bed of thorns as Avinash dies in a automobile accident. Malvika is totally shattered as are Avinash’s parents, Balrah and Shobhana. In spite of his grief, Balraj is sensitive to the desolation that he sees in his daughter-in-law’s eyes and is determined to remove it. He decides to get Malvika married to her childhood sweetheart Rajat. Initially Malvika is unwilling to start life anew but soon gives in. Shobhana too is not too happy with her husband’s decision as she is concerned whether after remarrying Malvika will let them have any access to her grandson or not. However soon she too come around. The climax sees an impassioned Balraj questioning society’s right to deny a widow the right to a life when the same right is not taken away from a widower. As he convinces his elder brother Balwant (Om Puri), who is against the notion of widow marriage, the humane impact of this act, he sends out a solemn plea to society to change its attitude towards women and particularly towards widows.
Babul is a sincere effort by Ravi Chopra to talk about a relatively taboo topic. He succeeds too up to a point of spreading awareness. Competent acting by one and all makes this film a wonderful watch. Aadesh Srivastav’s music is melodious and catchy. On the whole Babul is an honest attempt to talk about the burning question of widows and their plight.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam - Drama about a triangle
What can one say about this movie ? I really liked this movie, although the huge number of songs got to me sometime in the middle. The movie is a sensitive portrayal of the triangle, with the girl in the middle, and you see how her emotions slowly change as she gets to know the person to whom she is married to. The movie was a big hit for Sanjay Leela Bhansali, since his earlier movie, Khamoshi, was a critical success, but did not do too well at the box office. The success of Hum Dil De Chukhe Hain Sanam propelled Sanjay Leela Bhansali into the big league, and encouraged him to make his mega opus, Devdas. HDDCS also gave a big boost to the career and reputation of its heroine, Aishwarya Rai. Before this, Aishwarya did not have a great reputation an a star who could emote well, and a role where she had an opportunity to show a range of emotions was something that she would have welcomed. The success of the movie gave her reputation a big boost, something that her male stars (Salman Khan and Ajay Devgun) did not get to the same extent.
The movie is about a unique triangle. Aishwarya lives in a joint family in the Rann of Kutch, one which is very musically inclined as her father is a famed classical musical Pandit, and at the same time, protective of their honour. Aishwarya is the favorite daughter of her father, who is strict otherwise. And then comes in Salman Khan to their mansion, to learn music from her father. He has come all the way from Italy for this purpose. Initially, Nandini (Aishwarya) does not like Salman, also because she had to give up her room for him, and they play a lot of pranks on each other.
But, as you would expect, soon they start to love each other, fairly deeply. For some time, this love is hidden, but at one point, her father, Pandit Darbar (Vikram Gokhale) finds out about this love affair. He is not the least bit supportive, and asks Salman to leave (his gift to his teacher), and orders Nandini to forget Salman, as she is to marry other. And then Nandini is married off to Vanraj (Ajay Devgun); Vanraj had seen Nandini at a function and fell in love with her. However, immediately after the marriage, Vanraj gets to know about the love that Nandini had for Sameer (Salman Khan) and promises to take her to Italy to be with Sameer (after the initial anger).
They arrive in Italy, and as you might expect, searching for a person in a different country is not easy; they run into various issues, getting robbed once, and Nandini gets shot during the attempt. Vanraj takes care of her when she is in hospital, and slowly Nandini starts to start seeing Vanraj for the caring and loving person he is.
Eventually they find Sameer through his mother (Helen), and when Salman finds out, he is overjoyed. It is at this time that Nandini has to decide, is she still in love with Sameer, or is she now conscious of her role as Vanraj's wife, and now in love with him ?

Man Mohini Teri ada
Hey Mitti Pe Kheenchi Lakeerein Rab Ne
To Ye Tasveer Bani
Aag Hava Pani Ko Milaya
To Phir Ye Tasveer Saji
Hey Hasti Teri Dishaal
Kudrat Ka Tu Kamaal
Hey Man Mohini Teri Ada
Tujhe Jab Dekhle To Phir Ghata
Barse Jhar Jhar Jhar Jhar Sarar Sarar Sarar
Naache Chamak Chamak Vo
Bijli Deewani
Hai Bemisaal Tu
Kori Kori Anchhui
Tujh Mein Hai Kudrat Saari Khoyi
Tujh Mein Hai Kudrat Saari Khoyi Khoyi
Tujh Mein Hai Kudrat Saari Khoyi Khoyi
Tat ta..
Mitti Ki Hai Moorat Teri
Masoomiyat Fitrat Teri
Ye Saadapan
Ye Bholapan
Tu Mehki Mehki
Tu Lehki Lehki
Tu Chali Chali
Har Gali Gali
Tu Hava Ke Ghan Sang Sanana San
Tera Ang Ang
Jaise Jaltarang
Koi Leher Leher
Chali Teir Teir
Paani Ka Mel
Tere Tan Badan Jhar Jharar Jharar
Angaarey Jaisa
Tera Rom Rom Hai Dehka Dehka
Agni Ka Khel
Tu Agan Agan
Takir takir...
Zara Dhirak Dhirak Zara Lachak Lachak
Kabhi Matak Matak Kabhi Thumak Thumak
Khali Jhoom Jhoom Kabhi Ghoom Ghoom
Dharti Ko Choom Mach Dhoom Dhoom
Chanchal Badi Tu Natkhat Badi
Dehki Bahaar Ras Ki Fuhaar
Tere Teekhe Nain Tere Keshe Rain
Ye Balkhana Ye Itrana .
Tat tat ...

Chand Chupa Badal Mein
Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Sharma Ke Meri Jaana ,
Seene Se Lag Ja Tu, Bal kha Ke Meri Jaana,
Gumsum Sa Hai, Gupchup Sa Hai
Madhosh Hai,Khamosh Hai,
Haan Ye Sama, Haan Ye Sama Kuch Aur Hai,
Han Han Han Chand Chupa(Repeat)
Nazdikiyan Badh Jaane De,
Arre Nahin Baba Nahin, Abhi Nahin Nahin Nahin,
Door Se Hi Tum Jee Bhar Ke Dekho, Tum Hi Kaho Kaise Door Se Dekhoon,
Chaand Ko Jaise Dekhta Chakor Hai,
Aye, Gumsum Sa Hai, Ye Sama Kuch Aur Hai
Ho Ho Ho, Chand Chupa Badal Mein(Repeat)
Aaja Re Aaja Re Chanda,
Ki Jab Tak Tu Na Aayega, Sajana Ke Chere To Dekhne Ye Man Tarsa Jayega,
Na Na Chanda Tu Nahin Aana , Tu Jo Aaya To,
Sanam Sharma Ke Kahin Chala Jaye Na, Aaja Re Aaja Re Chanda,
Tu Laakh Duayen Payega, Na Na Chanda Tu Nahin Aana, Varna Sanam Chala Jayega,
Aanchal Mein Tu Chup Jaane De, Arre Nahin Baba Nahin, Abhi Nahin Nahin Nahin,
Julfon Mein Tum Kho Jaane Do, Arre Nahin Baba Nahin, Abhi Nahin Nahin Nahin,
Pyaar To Naam Hai, Sabra Ka Humdam, Woh Bhala Bolo Kaise Karen Hum,
Sawan Ki Raah Jaise Dekhe Mor Hai,
He Rehne Bhi
